April 29, 2011 A HISTORICAL WEDDING

So why did I put pictures of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on your blog?  Well because this is a day marked in history during your lifetime.  I remember watching the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana's.  I was  in college and about 18 or 19 years old!  Then I remember the day Prince William was born.   One day you will read this blog and think....wow...I just turned 1 year old when they got married!  :-)

13.5 MONTHS- SOOOO SMART!

Mommy called me on SKYPE to share with me that you watched the video I posted earlier.  In the video I asked you where your head was...eyes, nose and so on ....of course you wouldn't show off in the video but you sure were ready to show off tonight.. .. You started doing it for Mommy as you both watched the video. On the video  I said, "Say Hi, Nevaeh or Bye"....you said HI and BYE to the video while watching it!  Toooo cute!  Since you were in a showing off mood, I started asking you over SKYPE (didn't have my camera handy to take a video- BOO)....You pointed to your head, eyes, nose, mouth, feet, hands, and belly!  You even said the words after me!    You are also starting to say the words Ta Ku (thank you) when we give you things.....of course we have to prompt you, but you say it plain as day! YOU ARE SOOOOO SMART

13.5 MONTHS- CAGE FACINATION!

Nevaeh will play with the dog cage every time she visits with us.  Usually she opens and shuts the door about a million times!  Lately she has decided it is just as much fun to play inside!  So far, she leaves the dog food alone and doesn't put the dog toys in her mouth.  It's as if she knows it belongs to the dog!  Pretty smart of her!

13 MONTHS- WALKING MORE!

Mommy called on SKYPE to share Nevaeh's new found love for walking back and forth between Mommy and her friend Britney.  Hannah, Britney's daughter, who is two years old kept clapping and cheering her on....then Nevaeh would clap for herself!  She looked like a drunk walking, but she did it with much more confidence tonight!  The pictures above are from SKYPE and are a little blurry, but you get the idea!

13 MONTHS- ZOO

Courtney and Mike have a zoo membership....yesterday was the first nice spring day to take the kids.  They loved it and had a great time!  Above, Nevaeh enjoyed petting the goat.  If you look at her mouth, you will see she is saying "goat".  She also enjoyed pressing the buttons to listen to all the animal sounds.   Alexis and Jordyn enjoyed the day and got their faces painted, too!  The last two pictures, the kids are watching the polar bears swimming!  Doesn't Nevaeh look like a big girl standing next to Jordyn and Alexis?  It is cute to watch her try things that they do!

13 MONTHS OLD!

 Dear Nevaeh,
This month flew by!  Seems like we just wished you a happy birthday and here we are one month later! This past month, you started trying to feed yourself with a spoon, but most of the food ends up on the floor and not in your mouth..... or all over your body and hair....I am not fond of this self feeding stage!  YUCK!  You use a sippy cup during the day, but when you are done with it, you fling it on the floor. You can also drink from a straw!  As for the bottle, we still give you a morning and night cereal bottle. (I hear gasps out there!)....We just can't seem to let go of something that you truly love!  You suck them down in a few minutes!  I can say that Mommy and Daddy are making progress with transitioning from formula to milk.  They started off with 3/4 formula and 1/4 milk mixed with cereal.....now we are giving you 1/4 formula and 3/4 milk mixed with cereal.  This gradual transition seems to be working! :-)

I can tell you are growing because your nine month pants and sleepers are getting too short.  You comfortably fit into 12 month clothes, size 4 shoe and size 3 diapers.  Size 3 diapers are getting small but the size 4 are huge!  You are a tweener in the diaper department!  :-)  You finally cut two upper front teeth.  They broke through the gum line but are taking their old sweet time moving into position!  Not sure if you have more than 4 teeth, because you won't let us look in your mouth....Every once in a while you will smile real big for us to see!

You can stand from a sitting position and will walk between furniture without holding onto anything!  But that's about all that interests you in the walking department.  At times, when you realize you took a few steps on your own, you will smile real big and clap for yourself....but most of the time, you lose confidence and go down on your knees!

You have also been favoring your left hand for reaching, grasping, coloring and playing.  Sometimes you switch between hands, but I am pretty sure you are going to be left handed.  You entertain yourself well with all of your toys.  You will watch Jordyn and then you try to do what he is doing.  For example, Jordyn was coloring on a placemat while we were out to lunch.  You picked up a crayon and started coloring on your placemat.  You are very observant and a quick learner!  You also have a quick temper and will cry if you don't get your way!  You will throw yourself on the floor with deep sobs, tears and a red face!.....Sometimes over a toy that someone else was playing with!

You repeat many words that we say and will say ta ku (thank you).  You are now willingly giving open and closed mouth kisses and you will blow us a kiss. .......Lately your new body/sign language for the word NO is to cross your arms in front of your chest and tilt your head to the side with the word NO or shake your head no.  It is rather comical....there are times that you instantly cross your arms to tell us NO....your own baby sign language!

I love the little person you are becoming!
Love, Grandma Dason

FIRST HOME!

Mommy and Daddy bought their first home!  It is 101 years old! Built in 1910! They got a great deal because it was a bank repo.  (Purchased for half of the appraised value!)  The offer was accepted today and the closing is on April 15th!  Look at all of this BEAUTIFUL original wood work, wooden floors, stain glass and original fireplace!  These are just some of the great features....  the home is HUGE! 2,500 sq. ft. with 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms, full basement, and two car detached garage! The unfinished space pictured above is the walk up attic. There is enough space for a master bedroom, master bath and two walk-in closets....or even a neat game room...time will tell, that is way down the road!  For now, the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and exterior of the house need some TLC .........but very doable considering the great deal this house was!  I am sooooo excited for them! (The wood tones are more true to the first couple of pictures.  The last picture was taken with my phone and rather light....but still shows the beauty of the wood art in the staircase!)
