Today, Nevaeh walked out on the front porch with Mommy and said, "Hey, Mommy it's warm out here!".....She was right....61 degrees on February 1st!

Mommy said that Nevaeh definitely knows the difference between a diaper, a pull up, and panties. Mommy started to change Nevaeh's diaper and the conversation went:
N- I want a Dora pull-up!
M- Go get one.
N- Went upstairs, to her bedroom, to her closet, to the exact drawer they are kept in and pulled one out. She looked at it and said, "Nope- that's not Dora". She put that one back and pulled out a different one. She looked at Mommy and asked, "Just One? "
M- Yes, just one.
N- OK....then she pushed the drawer shut with her hip! LOL!

The other day, Nevaeh ran into the room to tell Aunt Kelly that "It's smoking", Kelly said, "What is?"
Nevaeh said, "Abby's breathing machine is smoking!" Everyone got a little chuckle out of that one!

Here's another cute comment....Mommy broke glass in the laundry room and she yelled at Nevaeh to get out of the room (afraid that Nevaeh would step on glass)....Nevaeh ran to the door and started bawling....Mommy asked what was wrong and Nevaeh said, "You hurt my feelings!" When Mommy told me this over the phone, Nevaeh overheard the conversation and thought Mommy was crying on the phone....She went over to Mommy and patted her back and said, "Don't cry!"

Her communication skills continue to impress us on a daily basis!

This is cute.....Mommy shared that an old high school friend came over for a visit earlier today. Neveah sized her up for some time.....after warming up to the strange lady visiting with her Mommy, she decided to go back and forth between Mommy and the friend giving hugs and kisses. At one time, Neaveh even said, "I think I like you now". HaHa!

22.5 MONTHS- TALKER!

The other day, Courtney, Jordyn, Nevaeh and I went shopping. Between stores (while in the car), Jordyn announced that he had to go to the bathroom. Courtney asked him to hold it until she found a bathroom and he said OK.....A good 5 minutes or so passed until we found a store with a bathroom. Courtney and Jordyn got out of the car and I stayed back with Nevaeh. A few minutes passed and Nevaeh said:

N: Grandma?
Me: What honey?
N: I got to go potty, too!
Me: Honey big girls go to the potty and don't wear diapers.
N: I go potty in my diaper. I no big girl.
Me: When will you start going potty like a big girl?
N: I don't know! (Hands in the air). Jordyn go potty. Bubby a big boy.

There was silence for a short time until I said out loud:
Me: What is taking your Mommy so long?
N: They went potty! COURTNEY, COURTNEY (shouting)....hurry up!
Me: She's not Courtney, she is Mommy!
N: I know! (With a huge smile)

22 MONTHS- IT'S OFFICIAL...NEVAEH HATES SNOW!

Well....It's official, Nevaeh HATES snow. She refused to move. Grammy Baker tried to get her to play in it, but she refused and cried most of the time. She even said "Ewwww, It's YUCKY!" In the last picture (above), Grammy tried to show her how to make a snow angel....as you can see, Nevaeh wanted nothing to do with it. The picture below, shows the only smile they got out of her the whole time. Uncle Andrew (whom she ADORES), threw a tiny snow ball at/to her....ahhh finally a smile was caught on the camera!

Pinterest.com is my new favorite website. I love collecting ideas in one spot. As you can see, my latest hunt is for Nevaeh's 2nd birthday. She is having a Dora theme! These are a few ideas I am sharing with Courtney.

I just ordered this Dora personalized t-shirt from an Etsy.com shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/sewcutecreations. Can't wait until it comes in! I honestly don't remember getting excited about the mini mouse birthday party theme last year, but I think it's because Nevaeh had no clue! This year, she knows and loves anything Dora! What fun!

22 MONTHS!

Dear Nevaeh,

Tomorrow you are officially 22 months. Mommy and Daddy have started planning your 2nd birthday party. You love Dora so I think this will be the theme of your party. I will have to search the web for Dora party ideas and pin them to Pinterest and share it with Mommy! From the pictures above, you can see that I have officially surrendered my iPad when you are here visiting. You love, love, love to watch the nursery rhyme videos on youtube. You clap at the end of each video! Toooo cute!

As for an update on stats, you seem to be gaining weight finally.....our scales show you at 22 lbs. Not sure about your height. You comfortably wear 18 month clothes, size 4 diaper and size 5.5 shoe. You continue to learn something new everyday and share your new found knowledge with us! For example, when you counted to 29 the other day out of the blue. One thing for sure....it has to be your idea to share this knowledge, otherwise forget it. Other people must think I fib about what you can do, because you will not "perform" when I want you to!

One thing I know for sure.....YOU HAVE GRANDPA AND ME WRAPPED AROUND YOUR LITTLE FINGER!

21.5 MONTHS -DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS :-(

See that sweet little face at the top of the blog? Behind that cute little smile is a little one with a stubborn streak!..... Especially when it comes to sharing toys with others. She does not share and is VERY bossy (I remember a little girl named Courtney who was just like this....right, Mommy?). Nevaeh finally met her match with her 3 year old cousin, Abby! Mommy and Aunt Kelly found Abby laying on top of Nevaeh while Nevaeh was aiming her hits and kicks in all the right places! OUCH!......All over a Mr. Potatoe Head! :-(

DADDY STARTS HIS NEW JOB TODAY!

A new year, brings a new job for Daddy. Today he starts as a corrections officer at the local prison. We are so proud of him! With Daddy's new job, Mommy decided to stay at home while you are little. To be honest, I bet she finds being a stay at home mom a full time job in itself! Personally, I feel it is one of the hardest jobs. I am not so sure I would have been a good stay at home mommy. I found I was a better mommy working outside of the home. But your Mommy is committed to this new "job" 100% just for you!

Happy New Year! I have been looking forward to 2012 for several years now! Your Mommy graduated from college (Occupational Therapy Assist) and you were born in 2010.....Aunt Caitlin graduated from college (RN-BSN) and got married in 2011....Daddy graduated from college (Criminal Justice) in 2011 and now it is my turn! I hope to graduate in August 2012 with a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I am done with all of my doctoral course work. Some call it an ABD degree (All but Dissertation), but I don't plan on stopping here.... I start the dissertation phase in January. One day, I will be called Dr. Dason! But you can call me Grandma! :-) I am looking forward to finishing so I can spend more time with you! You are a joy in our lives. Here's to saying goodbye to 2011, which was a great year with careers and new homes for Mommy and Daddy & Aunt Caitlin and Uncle Joey.....and here's to saying hello to 2012! I wonder what this year will bring for all of us, hopefully GREAT things!

UPSTAIRS BATHROOM REMODEL!

The before pictures! Grandpa Baker and Daddy worked hard on rearranging and repluming this upstairs bathroom. The old was torn out and the new put in.....Below are the after pictures!

It is very unusual for a 100 year old home to have two bathrooms. This bathroom is smaller than the downstairs bathroom. Grandpa seems to think that this bathroom was used by the servants because it was located near the servants quarters and also near the 2nd staircase that the servants would have used to access the kitchen downstairs. One day, I hope to have the time to research the history of this home. If only the walls could talk!

21.5 MONTHS- LEARNING EVERY DAY!

Here are some of the things that Nevaeh has learned:
1. Counts to 29!
2. Tells us she is 20 months old (even though she is 21 months old).
3. LOVES the iPad. I will search for youtube nursery rhymes and she does the rest. She knows how to pick the videos and play them. She can stop the video and pick another one on her own! She will do this for hours if I let her! She loves videos with numbers, colors, shapes and so on! I have to watch her carefully because some of the videos can turn a little ugly........Why do people have to remake and post such trash?
4. The other day, Nevaeh spilled drops of milk from her sippy cup onto Grammy's floor. Nevaeh said, "Uh oh, I need a napkin, pease". Grammy gave her a dish towel. Nevaeh said, "Thank you"....put the towel on the floor and stood on it to soak up the small spill.....She gave the towel back and said, "It's all cleaned up!"
5. This morning on the phone Mommy called me and Nevaeh. Mommy asked Nevaeh what she was doing....Nevaeh said, " Ummmm, I had pancakes, and Ummmm I took a bath, and Ummm I played with my toys......" This conversation went on for some time with Nevaeh saying "Ummm" & "And" while retelling the whole morning of activities! Pretty impressive!
6. Today, she picked up something off the floor and said, "Here, it's mine, I mean yours"......she actually corrected herself :-)

CHRISTMAS NIGHT 2011

We had another gift giving at our home Christmas Night. Here are a few pictures that made us laugh ohhh soooo hard!

Nevaeh insisted on putting her BIG GIRL DORA PANTIES on over her diaper and wearing the head bands that we got her. She even put her ELMO jammies on when she opened that gift! She refused to open the next gift until she put on each of these items!

Speaking of big girl panties........She now tells us every time she has to pee but she does it in her diaper. She asks to sit on the potty each time, but we can't catch it in time........So she knows what she is doing and that she should ask to go to the potty, but hasn't made the connection to wait and use the potty rather than go in her diaper. But I guess that is still progress. I think the big girl panties are still in the distance future!

Nevaeh was a big helper getting the food ready for the Christmas Eve party at Great Grandma and Grandpa Richard's house.

Unwrapping the gifts was hilarious....she would tear a piece of paper off and run to the trash can to throw it away....This happened several times until we got smart and move the trash can close to her!

Today Mommy asked Nevaeh what she wanted to eat for lunch. Nevaeh danced around the room repeating Mac and cheese....then she started saying " Trick or treat smell my feet, give me something good to eat!"....The older kids taught her this two months ago for Halloween and she remembered it word for word....She has a great memory!

Nevaeh called me (with the help of Mommy) and proceeded to tell me that she wanted big girl panties for Christmas, just like Abby (her cousin) has! I reminded her that she has to use the big girl potty first! ......So under the tree she will find some Dora pull up training pants and Dora big girl panties! We'll see if these Dora items are incentive enough!

Christmas Dinner out this year was interesting. Nevaeh had NO interest in sitting in one spot. There were tooooo many people's laps to sit on. Whenever she wanted to move to someone else's lap, she would say "Get off of me" rather than "Let me go". We got a laugh out of that. Then of course, since we all laughed about it, she thought she was cute and said it several more times. Another "funny" thing she did to get my attention was call out for "Shelly" instead of Grandma! Wow, she sure is observant when it comes to other people calling out for me by name!

21 MONTHS- SLEEP OVER!

Last night, Nevaeh and TaTa (Grandpa in Tamil) made Christmas cookies. Sometimes she calls him Crappa or TaTa... Can you tell they have a special relationship? It warms my heart!

When Nevaeh spends the night, we have a routine. First she takes a bath, then we trim her nails, brush her teeth, comb her hair, put jammies on and play until bedtime. Well last night, she didn't want to get out of the tub. She took the tub bag (bag for the toys) and decided to scrub down the bottom of the tub. I asked her what she was doing, she told me, "I'm cleaning the tub!" While she was cleaning, she heard Chael barking outside the bathroom window. She said "Chael outside?" I told her yes. Then I heard Grandpa let Chael in....and so did Nevaeh. Nevaeh promptly told me, "Chael is downstairs in the kitchen". Later that night, she played house with the rhino and Chael. She put both in the bouncy seat and sang "Rock-a-Bye Baby...." to them! Too cute! I continue to be impressed with her language skills. Grandpa makes fun of me for taking notes of her conversations and then blogging about it...But I don't want to forget the cute things she is saying and at such a young age!

This morning, I made Neaveh pancakes for breakfast. She told me, "It's hot, I blow on it, It's hot!". Then she gave short little blows....Next she reminded me that she need a spoon by saying, "I need a spoon, peaz". I gave one to her then she said, "Cut it in half" I giggled and asked her to say please....she looked at me in a stubborn sort of way, and I said please one more time....finally she said "peaz". :-)

While we were having breakfast, I washed her blankie.....It gets pretty grungy being carried around 24/7. After breakfast, she asked for her blankie. I reminded her it was in the washer getting cleaned. About that time, she heard the rinse cycle stop and said, "Blankie all done....Get it!" She didn't like my answer, so she fell to the floor in a fake cry with her hands over her eyes. Between the fake cries, she would peek through her fingers to see if she had my attention. She said, "I crying, want my blankie!" a few minutes later she asked, "Is blankie in dryer yet?" When I said NO, she fake cried some more.
When her blankie was finally dried, she held the blankie up to her nose and said, "hmmmmm smell it!...smells good!" So I guess all the fake crying was worth the smell! HAHA!

21 MONTHS!!!

Dear Nevaeh,

I can't believe you will be 21 months tomorrow. I called you on the phone today during my lunch break at school. I asked you what you were doing......You said, "I am here with Bubby, Doggie and Mommy....I want to see you....you come here?" I said, "You want to see me?" You said, "Uh-Huh". I told you, I would see you on SKYPE tonight....and you said, "OK"! So we SKYPED tonight. You told us many things....One thing that sticks in my mind is your age....We asked, "How old are you, Nevaeh?" You held up one finger and said "One". Then you held up one finger on each hand and said "I'm two"....we reminded you that you were One. Then you said, "I am 20 months".....we didn't teach you this, rather you picked 20 months up by hearing us tell others when they ask. Now you will have to learn a new number.....Since you will be 21 months old tomorrow!

For 21 months, you are quite small. You wear 18 month clothes (some 12 months still fit!). Size 5 shoe and size 4 diaper. Not sure about your weight and height since you don't have a doctor's appointment this month, but if I had to guess, I'd say you may be an inch taller, because your size 18 month jeans are fitting now rather than a little too big. Your hair is getting long and thicker. I wonder how long it would be if we didn't get it trimmed now and then.

Little miss independent is learning things by leaps and bounds. It seems like yesterday she was in a high hair .... Now she wants to eat at the table by herself!

Today, she told Aunt Caitlin that she had to go potty. She sat and sat.... Finally Caitlin said....go potty, Nevaeh..... Nevaeh responded with , "Give me money!". haha

Tonight she told Aunt Caitlin that she wanted to take a shower!.... In fact, she threw a little fit until Aunt Caitlin caved and stopped putting up the Christmas tree to let her take a shower!

20.5 MONTHS- WALLET

Earlier today, Nevaeh got out Mommy's wallet and wanted to play with it. Mommy asked her to put it back in her purse and she would get one later to play with as a toy. That seemed to satisify her. Tonight at Grandma Baker's house she asked for a wallet by saying, "I have wallet?". Grandma hunted for an old wallet for her to play with. Nevaeh was happy.....she opened it and searched all inside and then put her hands in the air and said,"I need money"....Once again grandma hunted around and found an old library card..She gave it to Nevaeh and that made her happy. Nevaeh tilted her head and said, "Thank you grandma".....Such a sweetie!

Little Miss Nevaeh says the cutest things:

Aunt Caitlin picked her up....Nevaeh rubbed Caite's cheek and said, "My Aunt Caitie. I love my Aunt Caitlin." and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Yesterday, Courtney called and shared that Nevaeh was watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Santa was sleeping and snoring, Nevaeh said, "Santa is crying"....Courtney said, "No, Santa is snoring because he is asleep." Nevaeh corrected her and said, "No No Santa is crying! Poor Santa" HaHa....Courtney said she followed along in the movie and would repeat many of the lines in the story!

Today, I was on the phone with Courtney and Nevaeh ran in the room crying...."I hit my head", Mommy asked where? and Nevaeh said, "I hit my head right here" and she pointed to the boo boo while she cried. To divert Nevaeh's attention away from the boo boo, Courtney asked what Daddy was doing. Nevaeh said, "He's painting!" Actually he was putting up the Christmas lights outside! HaHa

Later in the day we SKYPED....the dog was barking in the background. Nevaeh said, "I hear Chael!" Grandpa looked over the computer (from the back) which made him look upside down on the screen. Nevaeh said, "Crappa is upside down!"

We've noticed that Nevaeh is very good with first person and proper use of pronouns and positional words in her language. Pretty impressive for 20 months!

NEVAEH'S BEDROOM (BEFORE/AFTER REMODEL)

At one time, this house was a duplex. Nevaeh's room used to be the kitchen in the upstairs apartment, but the owner before had already converted back to a single home.....See the stove outlet near the baseboard on the right side? Here's the before.....

Here's the after! The wall color is more of a mint green, not the lime green shown in the picture.

The original stained woodwork was beautiful, but nicked up. Courtney didn't want to paint it, so we stripped it down and started from scratch....and then back to the original dark stain color. It was hard work, but worth it! The floors are all original and wooden, but.....the kids wanted warmth and a sound barrier from the top floor to the first floor, so they put carpet down. They did keep all original wood floors on the first floor (no carpet)!

We didn't keep the ceiling graffiti, but we did take a picture of it for memories. Grandpa Baker stomped the ceiling for a cleaner look. Since the changing table isn't needed, we decided to use it for the for stuffed animals instead!

20.5 MONTHS- NEVAEH'S BEDROOM

We are slowly but surely fixing up each room in the new house. This time, we focused on Nevaeh's room. All of her nursery stuff was put back up, with the exception of the crib. It was converted to a toddler bed. Daddy did a really nice job hanging her name letters that Aunt Caitlin painted for her.

Mommy unpacked all of the books and set up the book shelf. Nevaeh loves books!

Nevaeh picked up a book and made herself comfortable on her bed.

She "read" the book for quite some time!

After reading, she got her jammies on and crawled into her bed. She was ready to go to sleep even though we were still working on her room!

Nevaeh has such a good memory....We skyped tonight and she asked where her rhino was. She then tried to feed the rhino her apples through the computer. TOO CUTE. By the way, grandpa reminded me that rhinos have a horn....Nevaeh should be asking for her hippo not rhino....Oh who cares ....I don't want to confuse her with a new name for the animal.

STARTING A NEW THANKSGIVING TRADITION

Now that Nevaeh is old enough to sit through a movie and enjoy it, Grandpa and I have decided to start a new Thanksgiving tradition. We are NOT black Friday shoppers, instead we prefer to spend quality time with the grandkids. Our first movie outing will be Disney's "The Muppets". Nevaeh loves, loves, loves Elmo.....Hopefully he makes an appearance alongside of Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog! We can't wait!........Wait a minute....I just realized that Elmo is with Sesame Street, not the Muppets! Oh well.......I'm sure she will enjoy it none the less! I know I will!

Today on the road trip to the Barnett's side of the family, the kids had dinner on the go. Nevaeh finished her chicken nuggets, and asked Daddy for a napkin. She wiped her face and hands and gave the napkin back to Daddy saying, "All done, thank you!". She has used napkins in the past correctly but always with us initiating the act. It was cute to see her initiate it this time!

Another new thing....she can now unzip her coat by herself ! Such a big girl!

Nevaeh has a great memory. Today she visited with Grandma Barnett. As soon as she walked inside, Nevaeh asked, "Where's Mitzy? Mitzy where are you?" Mitzy is their cat, which she has seen 4 or 5 times over the last 20 months! In fact she remembers all of our pets names and calls for them as soon as she visits with all of us. We just never thought much of it before because she sees these pets on a regular basis. But today when she called for their cat, it really hit home what a great memory she has!

Mommy was in the bathroom and ran out of toilet paper. She asked Nevaeh to get some toilet paper out of the closet. Nevaeh went over to the closet that had a sliding door on it, but she couldn't get her fingers between the side of the door and the wall to pull it open. Mommy told her to pull the door open from the bottom to make it slide open. She looked at the door and followed Mommy's directions. Then she followed Mommy's multi-step directions on opening the pack of toilet paper and bringing her one roll.. She said, here Mommy! Nevaeh was so proud of herself!

HOUSE REMODEL!

Mommy and Daddy bought this 100 year old home last April. It was one of the ugliest homes on the block....but the inside had potential.... all the original stained woodwork, fireplace, staircase and stain glass windows, 3 pocket doors, 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, front room, family room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and a mud room, attic. basement, and newer 2-car garage with attached shed......2,500 square feet! All for $45,000 ......yes you read that right. This house was a bank repo and sat empty for a year! Luckily the inside wasn't destroyed by looters.

7 months later, thanks to Grandpa Baker's skill and hard work along with Daddy's manual labor the house is now the prettiest on the street! The new front porch will be painted white, but the new wood has to "cure" over the winter since it is treated lumber. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?!

Dear Nevaeh,
You are 20 months old and such a big girl now.....even though you are small for your age. You wear 18 months sizes, size 4 diapers, size 5 shoe, and you weigh 21 lbs. You are still favoring your left hand. The other day you were coloring and I noticed you would switch between a fist grasp to a normal pinch hold with your fingers!

This past month you have transitioned to a " big girl" toddler bed, but you think it is more of a game than the real deal. Last night you wanted to sleep in your bed, but every couple of minutes you would come into Mommy and Daddy 's room and say hi, or peek a boo....then go back to your bed. This went on for about a half hour until they gave in and put you in the playpen in their bedroom in order to go to sleep!

Yesterday, your Mommy shared the biggest news of all....YOU TOLD US YOU HAD TO GO POTTY. You even held it until she was able to take you in and get your diaper off! We are sooooo proud of you. Thinking this wasn't a one time deal, I asked you if you had to potty before your bath. You said yes.....I put you on the potty and you said, " All done, I wipe now".... You didn't pee pee this time.....but.....when I started running the bath water you peed all over the floor....I yelled....NO NO NO....you realized what you did and hung your head and puckered your lips for a start of a good cry....I changed my tone of voice when I realized I hurt her feelings and a big old smile came over her face.

You have a new table and chair set that Grandma Baker gave you. Uncle Andrew pulled a chair up to him....you sat in it for about an hour listening to stories.... He would even say, right Nevaeh? And you would say Yes or nod your head confirming your interest in the stories. One time he tried to get up and you pointed your finger at him demanding that he sit down, NOW! TOOOOO CUTE!

Me- I'll have a salad and breadsticks.
Nevaeh - I like salad. I like salad....(while nodding her head). Waitress walked away and Nevaeh said, thank you.
Nevaeh- drink, drink, drink..... Mommy gave her a drink and Nevaeh said, That's chocolate milk. I like chocolate milk.
The salad came and I gave Nevaeh a piece. She shook her head and said- No No No that piece is too big!
As you can see, she is quite the talker! She makes us smile on a daily basis!

Ever since Nevaeh learned how to climb over the baby gate, Mommy worried about her climbing out of her crib.....so the next best thing.......convert the crib to a toddler bed (3-in one crib conversion). Mommy told Nevaeh it was her big girl bed and Nevaeh sat in it with a smile....then she started bouncing on her knees singing, "My big girl bed!" The first night was somewhat successful, Nevaeh stayed in the bed for about 3 hours and then wondered into Mommy and Daddy's room singing the numbers song....Needless to say she was wide awake, so Mommy put her in the playpen in the room, so they could all go back to sleep. The next night, she slept in her big girl bed all night! YAY!......Let's see what tonight brings!

For example, tonight they were leaving a shoe store. The cashier said "Have a good night". Nevaeh looked at the lady and said, "You, too!" and waved good bye! Pretty impressive!

This is her new dog. She is a Chocolate Lab. Mommy and Daddy swayed between the names Coco and Hershey. However, Nevaeh decided that she was calling her Hershey.....So Hershey it is! Nevaeh has learned how to take a shower. She does a good job trying to wash her hair and her body. Many times she gets in the shower with Mommy, but she doesn't like to take turns getting under the shower head. She tells Mommy, "My water....No Mommy, my turn. My water!" Yesterday, she watched Mommy shave her legs. After they got out of the shower, Nevaeh sat on the floor and rubbed her legs. Mommy asked what she was doing....Nevaeh said " I shave my legs". Then she told Mommy she had to POOP, NOW! She even squeezed her butt cheeks together. Mommy sat her on the potty. Nevaeh tried and tried.....but no luck. Afterward, she had to get the toilet paper and wipe herself! She said, "I pooped, I wipe with toilet paper"!

Mommy was going through Jordyn's birthday gifts and realized Nevaeh hadn't made her presence known for some time....Not overly concerned, Mommy started searching each of the rooms on the first floor not gated off.....still no Nevaeh....Then the worry set in.....that is until she heard her upstairs with all the bigger kids who came for the birthday party. Mommy brought Nevaeh and all 10 kids downstairs and asked who took the baby upstairs......No one fessed up so she put them all in timeout until someone told the truth.....20 minutes into time out with no confessions guess who goes missing AGAIN..... Yep, Nevaeh climbed over the baby gate herself and went back upstairs to play. YIKES.....Time to get taller baby gates! ......Oh yeah, Mommy did apologize to the older kids! LOL

Mommy and Daddy moved into the new house a few weeks ago (will post pictures of before and after the remodel once the move is complete.....might be awhile! ).....Nevaeh voiced her opinion over her new bedroom.....NO GO! She doesn't like her new room :-( Last night, Daddy put her in her crib sound asleep, but Nevaeh woke up and cried "No like! Me want you!" Mommy gave in and got her out of her crib. They snuggled in Mommy and Daddy's room when Nevaeh pointed to her playpen and said, "Want playpen, No like room!" Mommy put her in the playpen and all was quiet for the rest of the night. I have a feeling it will be a long time before the transition to her new room is done!

Dear Nevaeh,

You are rounding the corner towards two years old! Yikes! Where did the time go? I must say that I am loving this age! You are such a good little talker. It is so cute to hear you ask me questions, or even make a statement. You are the one initiating the conversations now. I also notice how you have a good memory to complete a task. Yesterday, I walked you out to the mailbox. I told you we were getting the mail for grandpa. You walked down the long drive. You waited patiently as I got the mail out of the mailbox. You held out your hands to take the mail from me. Then you walked back up the long driveway, while saying, "Take mail to crappa (grandpa)". We walked into the house, and up the stairs, but grandpa was on the phone so we went into the bedroom. You dropped the mail on the floor and started playing. About 10 minutes later, grandpa was off the phone. I said, "Let's go see grandpa". You started to walk passed the mail, stopped and said "Oooops, take mail to crappa!" You picked up the mail and walked to grandpa saying, "Mail, crappa!" with a smile on your face! You were soooo proud of yourself! And, I was amazed at how you remembered to finish the task!

Lately you have been making bedtime a struggle. You really hate going to bed. Earlier, you cried, "I SCARED!"? Well last night, you cried for her Bubbie (Jordyn) and Sissy (Alexis). The tears were real with deep sobs! :-( Made me sooooo sad. I know you like staying all night with us, but the bedtime antics are killing me! So ease up on this Old Grandma, PLEASE!

18.5 MONTHS- VEGIES?

Nevaeh has turned into a picky eater and as you know from the previous posts, Nevaeh is getting taller, but not gaining weight. To entice her, Mommy tried V-8 juice since she is such a good juice drinker! Well lets just say, it didn't work! Mommy put the V-8 juice in her sippy cup and gave it to Nevaeh. She started drinking, then stopped in mid stream and stared at her sippy cup. She said "NO JUICE" and gave the cup to Mommy and said "More, More, More please. " Mommy pretended to put different juice in the cup and handed it back to Nevaeh, but she did the same thing by stopping her drink in mid stream and cried NO! She then put her hands to her face and cried real tears. Daddy asked her if she wanted water. The tears stopped instantly and Nevaeh repeat "Water, water, water" until Daddy got it for her. She then said "Thank you" after she taste tested it!

Any thoughts on how to get her to eat or drink vegetables? What works for all of you?

1. Last night Nevaeh spent the night. She usually gives us a hard time about going to sleep but last night takes the cake....She cried with real tears with a death grip around my neck crying "I SCARED!". Over and over until she fell asleep....talk about pulling at my heart strings!

2. This morning we got up and went to the beauty shop....She was such a good girl sitting on my lap, watching intently, eating her crackers and drinking her juice....then....All of a sudden she said, " I hurt" and threw up all over me! Talk about being unprepared! YUCK!

Yep, you could say I was initiated alright!

Nevaeh would walk over to the correct pile and repeat after Aunt Caitlin "This goes in the keep pile...or...This goes in the trash pile"....Such a big helper!

Nevaeh's newest thing is to lay on the couch with her pacifier, blankie and sippy cup. She will watch the Your Baby Can Read video or Nickelodeon for long stretches at a time. Sometimes she even falls asleep and takes a nice long nap!

With Mommy's Occupational Therapy background, she knows alot about the anatomy with proper terminology. She always teases and says Nevaeh is going to go to Kindergarten screening one day being able to identify body parts with correct terminology.... Yesterday, Mommy asked Nevaeh where her phalanges were. Nevaeh had a pacifier in her hand. She looked at it, put the pacifier in her mouth and wiggled her fingers!

Today, I was at Lowes with Nevaeh. I had a spray paint can in the cart. She picked it up and started shaking it. She said "shake the can, shake the can" and bounced up and down to help shake it up! It is amazing the things she says. I am not sure how she knew what to do or even the right words to say!

Yes, you read that title correctly! Remember when I shared that first Nevaeh would count with us by repeating each number, then she would say the next number (Daddy said 1, Nevaeh said 2 and so on)....she did this type of counting up to 10 then one day counted to 10 by herself????!!!! Well tonight, she repeated the numbers after Daddy (11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20)....then Daddy said 11, Nevaeh said 12, Daddy said 13, Nevaeh said 14, Daddy said 15, and Nevaeh ended with 16,17,18,19,20 !!!!! I kid you not! WOW!

18 MONTH CHECK UP!

Nevaeh had her 18 month check up today. No weight gain AGAIN this month....still holding at 19 lbs 15oz. At least she is getting taller. Now Nevaeh is 30 3/4 inches tall. She is small for her age, but not petite. Doctor seems pleased with her progress. :-)

Tonight I changed her diaper and asked her what was on her legs. She pointed to the bandaides and said "Grandma, shot!" (Grandma Baker works at the doctor's office and had to give her the shots today). I asked her what else she got and Nevaeh said "A sucker!"

18 MONTHS- SINGING SONGS ON THE RADIO!

Nevaeh surprised Mommy and Daddy tonight! She was in the car seat listening to the radio when Taylor Swift's "Mean" song came on......Nevaeh started singing the Chorus! She hummed or said the words quietly and then sang out loudly the words ....CITY.....MEAN.....ME.....MEAN....SO MEAN at the right times in the song! The chorus is listed below....

"Someday I'll be living in a big old city / And all you're ever gonna be is mean / Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me / And all you're ever gonna be is mean / Why you gotta be so mean?"

She has done this before to the theme song of Phineas and Ferb, but the cartoon had pictures on the TV screen to cue the singing. This time, she sang with no picture cues.....just words from the radio!

Here's a video of Nevaeh singing the chorus....she is even dancing to the tune! If you listen close enough you will hear her sing "Someday, You'll see I'll be living in a big old city" ....She sings all the words while she dances! ....but you have to listen closely.... Too cute!

This little cutie pie is 18 months old already! I can't believe Nevaeh is 1 1/2 years old! Where did the time go?!!! Not much has changed in the last month other than her expanding vocabulary. Today, she yelled for "crappa" (grandpa)....when she was sitting on the potty (she wanted to show off)....She sat and sat....grandpa got bored and started to leave the bathroom....Nevaeh yelled "stay here" and pointed at him! She didn't do anything in the potty this time, but she kept saying "all done" or "I done" ....when she got up, she peed on the floor.....again! I actually think we are in training rather than her! HAHA! No really, if you think about it, it is really easy to just keep putting diapers on her.....it is another thing to schedule bathroom breaks.....especially first thing in the morning when I am still sleepy! See those curls in the picture? ALL NATURAL! Lucky girl!

She will dance and sing some of the words at the right time in the song...She will hum the tune and then sing the words GENERATION, SHOWER and yells the word MOM at the end! Soooooo cute to watch!
